A Day with CIPM: Learning HR in Practice – A Special Session for Trincomalee Campus Undergraduates

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) organized “A Day with CIPM: Learning HR in Practice,” a special session for final-year students of the BSc Honours in Human Resource Management at the Trincomalee Campus. The event took place on October 3rd, 2025, at CIPM Colombo, with the assistance of Mrs. Anuja Raveenther, Senior Lecturer in Management. A total of 34 students participated in the workshop, which covered several topics related to HR, including:

• Becoming a World-Class HR Professional
• Future-Ready HR: Essential Skills and Career Pathways for Emerging HR Professionals
• From Learner to Leader: LinkedIn Strategies for HR Graduates
• Research Proposal Writing and HR Publications: Best Practices

The resource persons included Mr. G. Weerathunga, Director of Professional and Academic Affairs; Mr. Anushka Earskin, Director of the Business School; Ms. Thilini Kelaniyage, Manager of the Business School; and Ms. Kamani Perera, Manager of Research and Development. This workshop provided immense knowledge of the HR skill set required for graduates and helped students gain valuable insights into the field.
